Our History

A journey of growth, resilience, and community impact — from 2004 to today.

Where It All Began

Our Foundation Story

BAKAID Tanzania was founded with a clear conviction — that communities hold the power to transform themselves when given the right support, resources, and partnerships. Established in 2004 under The National Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA), BAKAID began coordinating community service interventions across all regions of Tanzania Mainland.

Re-registered as BAKAID Tanzania in 2019 under the NGO Act No. 24 of 2002, we have grown into an organisation that touches the lives of about one million Tanzanians across 15 regions and 40 districts.

Our history is a testament to the power of collaboration, faith, and commitment to a vision larger than any one individual or organisation.
